Learning must push through: This is our battle cry as workers under the education sector. This much had been proven, even through the pandemic, various modalities had to be explored to facilitate remote learning. However, there are shortcomings when it comes to these learning modalities. Different factors contribute or learning difficulties under these modalities, especially in Science. Science involves difficult concepts that requires a teacher to facilitate learning. It cannot be stressed enough that Science is needed not only for academic but also for practical purposes. Because of this, there is a need to leverage resources to hone mastery of Science.
Fortunately, smartphones are powerful tools that could be exploited to ease learning difficulties. Application like Classpoint, Whiteboard.fi, PhET Interactive Simulation, Daily Meal Journals, etc. are obscure tools that offers learners experiences that would teach them about scientific concepts. There are also more prominent platforms that host Science contents like YouTube, Facebook, and even government websites like the Learning Portal. Although this is not to say that this is a silver bullet that solves all the problems of Science learning, there are indeed access issues. Nonetheless, exploring further how to develop applications to teach Science is a must.
Personally, I have applied these apps to my online class and it results are very promising. It is a teacher’s great achievement to see the students learn. The hardships that we face in exploring these applications are nothing as we strive for our learners to never stop learning.
